SNAP.. CRACKLE & POP!

No, Dear Readers, fear not, SHE has not been reduced to reading from the packet of a certain brand of breakfast cereal.. this series of events is happening right now on the sitting room window ledge!

SHE potted up lots of seeds last Saturday, many different varieties of Beans. Green, Purple & Yellow Bush (yum), Borlotti, Climbing French (red & white flowered), Broad / Fava.

They went into little cells with clear propagator lids and after sqeeeezing them all onto the ledge, SHE turned the radiator onto a very low heat.

Every day SHE looked through their clear hats and gave them a little squirt of water to keep the seeds moist. Last night quite a few of them looked as if their top soil had 'broken' and this morning..

Lots and lots of little Bean Folk have popped their heads out and are saying "Oh hello, that was such a long sleep.. what year is it?"

This is what happens.. is is such fun to watch!

Snap.. the beans feel moisture and warmth and their skin snaps.

Crackle.. the beans start to grow and the soil crackles.

Pop.. out of the soil, the first sign of the leaf pops.

But YOU are wondering why the little Bean Folk asked what year is, aren't YOU?

As SHE could not find all those packets of Bean seeds anywhere SHE raided the store cupboard and found an old packet of 'dried mixed Beans'.

All gardeners know which Bean is which and so that is why those little Folk were asking what year it is.. for they had been 'asleep' for many, many a year!

Now they will go out to the garden to grow, some of them SHE will allow to go to 'seed' and dry and their cycle will start again next year..

And with a hey nonny no.. it is off WE go!

GeeGee Parrot.
