A SUNNY DAY .. IN LONDON TOWN.

Dear Readers.. YES, PICNIC SEASON IS HERE!

Yippee, oh, how I love picnics, it is such fun to perch in fresh air and eat with our gardening friends.

SHE rootled around in freezer and got out the frozen ice packs. WE don't need a thermos as there are gas rings to boil water for fresh coffee and the Asparagus steamer..

WE are picking up a roast chicken in the market, SHE has apples and the last smidgen of HER homemade Ricotta and that is all WE need to take!

For everything else is already there. The salad will be of mixed herbs, chives, wild garlic, dandelion and lovage leaves. Then SHE picks the Asparagus whilst the water is boiling.

Today is clear and apparently it will be in the mid-sixties.. aka perfect gardening weather! The soil is now warm enough to plant Radish Seeds, they don't germinate if the soil is less than 45 degrees. Can't say I blame them, would YOU?

Pak Choi and other Oriental leaves go in with the Onions and Garlic.. quick cropping!

The brilliantly coloured Swiss Chard will go in everywhere there is a space! The Lettuces (lots of different varieties) go amongst the Broad Beans / Fava. SHE will plant more of these Beans on the Asparagus bed, they put down Nitrogen into the soil which Asparagus likes very much!

That is also where HER favourite Yellow Patty
Pan Squash go as well, they grow amongst the
Asparagus ferns and help by keeping norty old Weed at bay! The Courgettes / Zucchinis will grow under the Morello and Stella Cherry trees.

WE are off for a glorious day. WE hope that YOU will have a happy day too. WE must not forget to buy AND post that birthday card..

GeeGee Parrot.
