Now that.. was jurst delicious.. no doubt at all in either of our minds, that WE will make and eat THAT dish again.. Wild Fungi & Bulgar Wheat, the Bulgar was with vegetable stock.
It reminded HER of many, many years ago when Mara, the owner of San Lorenzo met HER in Beauchamp Place with a basket full of wild Fungi.. "oooh, what have you found there?" Mara said? SHE explained that SHE had seen them whilst walking with a friend the previous day and had gone back to pick them and was actually on HER way to Mara's restaurant to ask chef if there were any poisonous ones..
"Let's go and ask him now and then have a coffee" said Mara, one of London's most beloved restauranteurs and much nicer than her grumpy husband Lorenzo.. they showed them to chef and he said.. " no, they are all edible and will be delicious".. they drank their
coffee and spoke about Mara's daughter opening her little
delicatessen next to her parents restaurant in Beauchamp Place..
YES.. THAT San Lorenzo's.

SHE took a good selection out of the completely full basket and
gave them to Mara and kissed her and said "please thank Chef and
enjoy these with MY love"..

The ones she has jurst eaten were not as fresh as those that SHE
picked thirty years ago but mighty delicious all the same!
Mara had a stroke a few years ago and died in April of this year, restaurant is still there but SHE has not eaten in it for ... oh, ten years, maybe more.
SHE picked those wild Fungi which grew for several years in that secret spot in the park but it has been too dry for many years, but maybe with a wet autumn, they might come back.. YOU never know.

But even if they don't, at least SHE now knows where to find them,
even if they are not 'jurst picked' by HER own hands.

It is still 'tipping' down with rain but not quite so hard, Mrs. Spot
Pigeon has gone from doorstep.. poor baby, she doesn't have a
warm air dryer to fluff her feathers, I do have to say, that machine
is MYfavourite.. indeedy, warm air on a red bum is very pleasant!
Now it is quiet.. I am dozing quietly on sitting room door whilst
SHE takes dictation onto iPad.. All is well in our life.. WE hope it is with YOU, Dear Readers?
WE see someone in Moldava is also reading MY Blog.. I wonder if that is the person who writes that excellent Blog about
being 'An ex-pat abroad"? WE hope they send a comment and let us know.
