Oh. My goodness me, just when she thought it was 'safe' to venture forth, a splendiferous thing came into sight, however, what is not clear is what she was doing up in that area (Covent Garden).
She saw her GP to get a couple of prescriptions at lunch time, well, the time that normal folk have this meal that somehow never appears on my plate. Then she must have got lost for she was bound for Barteks in Streatham, which is in completely the opposite direction and south of the river.
How, therefore, Dear Readers, did she end up 'licking the window' of Balthazars' Bakery? Which is where she saw this Galette, it sounds wondrous and just up my street as it is made with puff pastry and frangipane.
Imagine, if you care to, flaky pastry crumbling into one's Beaky aka mouth and finding that heavenly centre.. what I want to know is, where is it?
All she appears to have come home with is, a bunch of fresh beets with their leaves, some fresh sauerkraut, a bag of dried Bay Bolete musghrooms and a large chunk of ham. And a surprise gift for someone, a pack of two cheesecakes, which went whoosh into frosty larder before I could even see the box.
No Galette is sight. Bit of swizz I call that, but as traditionally, in France, they are made from Epiphany right up until the start of Lent, I'm in with a chance and so is she, if she loses enough weight!
A slice of Galette would be very 'chirpful' making on a cold dismal afternoom, don't you agree?
GeeGee Parrot.
