MONDAY MORNING CLOTHES, YOU'D THINK WE LIVE IN THE TROPICS!

Why? Well, Monday at 1.00pm is 'weigh in' time and she makes a point of always wearing the same clothes. It was Summer when she started this 'drop the weight & get healthier programme', and she wore leggings and a t.shirt to her first session,

Now she wears the same items but under multiple layers of clothing that get removed before she gets on the scales. And todays' loss? Another half a lb, her initial target is 'in sight', she has 12.5lbs to lose. Her weight loss is 26.5lbs, nearly four sacks of Winalot. (7lbs bags of Spillers dog biscuit).

Her dodgy knees thank her every minute of the day and as she has done it veryvery slowly, which was deliberate ploy on her behalf, her skin is shrunk too. No hideous amount of loose skin are to be seen, she is just smaller and when she's down to target, she'll go to class, she's walking further and faster, she times herself to various places and each time tries to knock off a couple of second, it all helps.

She would have lost more last week but she ate Ossie's yumyum on Thursday night! Scrummy soup with home made croutons, slurp and crunch, baked aubergine and tomato with pommes dauphinois and salad, such food does not pass our lips every night, I was there as well, and as it was so tasty, we both slurped happily.

We'd taken our favourite goaty cheese, plus three slice of chocolate salami, which Leigh and Ossie thought was delicious and she showed Ossie the recipe on line so he could bookmark it, of course, it won't be the same as hers as she fiddles with the recipe and added apricots and the rum in which they had soaked for a year.

Anyway, she's getting there, there have been weeks when she has gained a small amount and weeks when she only lost half a lb, but the bliss of not having those aching knees, to be able to run up an escalator (!), to be able to walk fast and for a 'good' distance, to be able to wear clothes that she loves and not feel like a sausage!

Last week end she tried on a beautiful blouse, she's had it for over thirty five years, how can you possibly remember the details of an item of clothing for so long? Well, her father told his family years before he died that when it came to his funeral that NO ONE was to wear black or dark grey. Hugo died on St.Valentine's Day 1981.

She'd bought something when she was staying with Ulla Luddington in Norfolk the previous Autumn. It was a Jaeger three piece, an unstructured jacket, a skirt and a blouse, the jacket and skirt were made out a sienna coloured wool knit, the wonderful rusty colour of an Autumn leaf and the pretty blouse is of the same colour with purple and mustard, it has a ruffled collar and the edge of the sleves are ruffled as well.

Both her brothers and all of his friends remembered and respected Hugo's request not to wear sombre colours at his funeral, however, his widow (not Constance for she and Hugo had divorced in 1978) of just over a year, had obviously not been told this by Hugo, and came 'dripping' in black with a veil and started to throw a terrible tantrum at the sight of her in one of Hugo's favourite colours until her eldest brother and one of his oldest friends took her aside and told her in words of one syllable to quit making that noise and why.

Autumn 1980 to Winter 2015 makes over thirty five years, she has had it carefully packed away with Lavender, she thought about it this last week end and put it on. It fits perfectly and although she gave the top and skirt away to a great friend in American many years ago, she's several things with which this pretty blouse, that has many memories attached to it, will look perfect.

Her papa's 'mourning' blouse.. he would have loved it.

GeeGee Parrot.
