Are ready to march off to grow but they're 'confined to barracks' as it's too hot out there! When did you ever expect us to write that.. for we like hot weather. But you can't plant seedlings out when it is 26 Centigrade and rising, can you!
Yes, Dear Readers, from being chilly-billy at only 8 degrees with cloudy, dull skies, it's very HOT with cloudless, sunny blue skies and the temperature's rising.. so it isn't surprising.. we gotta keep these babies cool!
However, this hot, dry and not too windy weather, if it stays, is going to have the most wonderful effect on our Cherry trees! Of which, she has eleven, she thinks, let's see what varities we have and how many of each.. five Stella, one Montmorency, one Morello, two Yellow, two French.. yes, that's eleven trees.
Last year we lost every single blossom in mid April when fierce winds and rain ripped them off the trees but this seasons' forecast, as long as we don't get those winds again, is for a cracking good Cherry crop! She can see Debbie Goat and Karen smiling at the thought of cherries! They're both partial to a slurpy-sip of her home made Kirsh.. cherries in vodka with a secret ingredient!
She ran about a bit yesterday getting stuff.. one trip was to Bartek for a stash of her new favourite drink.. Beet with apple and root parsley.. it's very slurpy-durpy, she had a tiny amount of goaty milk left so she poured a little of the purple juice into the bottle, gave it a reallyreally good shake and zap kappow! A brilliant smoothie.
She's going to miss those Goaty Cheesy biscuits! Hot dog! That naughty baker, I bet he'll do his twist on her cheese biscuits and he and that Goaty Mum will scoff the lot.. sigh.. so no cheesy biscuits for us this week end 'cos we won't be at Parson's Green Farmer's Market on Sunday.
We're going to be elsewhere! Surprise.. you'll have to wait and see!
Quick post this as she has to rattle pots and pans, collect a lot of stuff from a friend for the shop, work there for a few hours and then come home to do more work here..
