Good morning.. good morning.. it's a sunny day here where we live.. with a bright blue sky!
And in a paper today is a copy of a copy of a letter written in 2009 by a young school boy. In the letter, the boy thanks Mr. and Mrs. Murphy for the financial support that they gave that he is receiving in the way of a scholarship to Jesuits, a school in Dallas, Texas.
He tells them that he is in the school's golf team, is currently ranked as the number one junior player in the country, his dream is to play professional golf and to win the Masters.
We don't know how many hours this boy dedicated to his chosen sport but we are betting more hours and days than you can possibly imagine and his hard work and a natural talent have paid off, for Jordan Spieth, now 21 years old, has won the Masters at Augusta and with it, the right to wear 'that' green jacket!
We liked this story.. we liked it very much, indeed we LOVE to hear of young AND old people having an idea of what they want to do and having the determination to go out there and do it. We don't mind or care at all as to what 'it' is.. just as long as they get up off their backsides and do it, do something.
Learn a foreign language.. like her 93 year old new friend Elizabeth, whom she met because she was wearing a jacket of hers that she had donated to New Horizons, what's Elizabeth doing? Well, she's learning to speak Hungarian and Skype's her teacher each week for an hour. HUNGARIAN! Lordy..
Learn how to do something.. anything but get your brain cells and your muscles a'goin! Don't retire and just think "I'm retired".. And if you're young.. don't think that Facebook or Twitter are going to give you a worthwhile career by tweeting and hanging out with all your virtual friends.. some of whom are NOT whom they appear or say they are!' PLEASE.. please.. it ain't going to do anything except waste valuable time.. for old Father Time does not stop ticking away.. tick tock tick tock tick..
And whilst you're at it.. quit talking in text-speak.. didn't you learn anything at school?
You gain an enormous amount by studying and maybe, just maybe, you will achieve the technical or physical know-how of how to develop something, maybe a system that will be the next big thing.. that actually works! For truly the Holy Grail of studying is to create something that benefits all mankind.
We 're off.. it's time for LapySang tea, buttery egg-the-peg.. now we KNOW you're as just as silly as us, so no sniggering at my vocabulary.. and rye toasty-crusts! We hope you've got or had something delicious to eat that has broken your night's fast.. breakfast.. gettit?
