SUGAR & SPICE.. AND ALL THINGS NICE!

Oh.. the sadness of an old friend smashing on the floor.. RIP old brown and blue mixing bowl, what a lot of things she has mixed in you over the past forty years.

Yes.. so her shopping list got a bit longer, a new bowl is needed as well as a couple of baking trays, several pats of unsalted butter and eggs.

Ever since Peter Jones and John Lewis chose to no longer stock such vital items such as Soda Crystals or Sterilisation Fluid, both of which should be in your kitchen along with White Vinegar, she no longer shops in either of those stores.

Now she shops at a very clever store called Wilco. She came across this company many years ago in East Ham, her lamp shader makers lived all over the place, and she was and still is impressed with their enormous range of household products.

This afternoon she was bound for their branch down at Tooting Broadway, because she could pop in and see some old friends who run an amazing textile and trimming shop in Tooting High Street called Silkhance.

The husband greeted her and said "she's across the road getting sugar", so she went across the road into PoundWorld to look for her friend.

And found her buying airtight storage tubs and a baking tray! Which was also on her list! And what a very superior baking tray it is too.. plus a very smart and unbreakable BIG metal mixing bowl.

How marvellous, for metal will get very cold and it will chill dough much quicker than a pottery bowl.

And, yes, they only cost one pound instead of ten pounds for a new blue and brown bowl.

So they browsed, these two happy friends, and found just what they needed. Including some airtight clip-shut food boxes which she needs.

Why does she need such things. Well, it shows you never know everything about your friends.. for it transpires that Bob, a much beloved friend who lives in NYC, is a Cookie Monster!

You have to learn the basics of anything properly before you can change the formula or recipe.

Having now got Susan's Danish Cookie recipe fixed in her brain and her fingers, she can now fiddle with the recipe.

Sugar and Spice, Sweet and Sour. The opposites go pretty well in cooking.

She will make dough tomorrow, fiddle with it, chill it over night and on Monday, she'll do baking, instead of laundry, then they will go into an airtight box and find themselves flying very high and fast all the way to New York City.

For a Cookie Monster in New York City is a'waiting a box of Danish Cookies as is LazyBoyBruce on the Isle of Man and we cannot not send a box of Salami to Joe in Ottawa.

Much more fun than doing laundry and she gets to lick the bowl! YumYum.. Pig's Bum.. Apple Pie and Chewing Gum!

GeeGee Parrot.
