Yes, Dear Readers, we think there are more than a few people in our life who should be 'honoured'.
Why? Well, over the past year, we have been truly been blessed and shown the gifts of Compassion, Friendship, Humour and Kindness and we think that is four very good reasons for us to stick up a hand (and a wing) and say "Thank you".
I am not going to name everyone but the following need to be publicly acknowledged.
Tom, Bob, Bruce, Leigh, Claudia - indeed, dear friend, what is a year between friends? Debbie, the two Karens, Diane, Daniela, Doris, Gayle, Pamela, Patsy, MaryLou, Tereza, Myra, Rosamund, Pegeen and Danish Susan and Joe, for being generous enough to share their recipes.
Plus, of course, these two. Michel Roux Jr and Nigella Lawson. And why these two?
Well.. think back Dear Readers, for if Michel had not demonstrated the way you make a Savoyard Potato Cake.. aka Gateau de Pommes de Terre.. people all around the world would not have been able to read it and make it, by over ONE Thousand hits, your favourite post!
And Nigella.. for if she had not shown her how to make a Chocolate Salami.. well.. hers' would not have been gussied up and gone to that very swish party! In fact, they would not have existed, as she had never thought of such a thing! Fancy that!
And to our wonderful purveyors of food products. Dickinson's the Butchers, Karen's stall, for her very fresh fruit and vegetables, Fulham Fish Centre and UR Supermarket all on the North End Road, Nutcase on Uxbridge Road, Bartek on the Central Parade, Streatham and Lidl..
Yes folks.. Lidl where she has been shopping for over twenty years all due to her lovely friend Frankie Brandt, who is originally from Hamburg and who introduced her to this store upon their return from their epic trip boat trip through Russia in 1994.
And, of course, YinYip.. for their Ginger and allowing her to 'root' through their boxes picking out the best 'hands'.
Now.. off we go to the Queen's New Year's Honours List.
We read the list of names of people who have been honoured for what ever reason whilst lolling in bed this morning with a mug of Lappy-Sang.
Then we read the last name, tucked away at the end of the article in Daily Telegraph.
Mary Quant has been made a Dame.. For services
to British fashion.. ONLY British.. Hello?
Dear Readers.. you are probably all too young to remember the explosion that was caused by this woman's designs.. but they started a world-wide revolution.
Bravo.. at long last..
And last but certainly not least.. she wishes to thank her GPs and specialists for getting her through an incredibly 'difficult' year.
The Knightsbridge Medical Centre in Pavillion Road and the Gastro-Enterology Dept. at Charing
Cross Hospital have been amazing.
"Thank you everyone".
Now I am off to pole to look at the bright sunlight and she is off to get eggs and a new baking tray.
FlapFlap..
GeeGee Parrot.
