It's a bell! To be precise, Big Ben is the hour bell of the Great Clock at the north end of the Palace of Westminster and it is a mighty big bell at that, for it stands seven and a half feet high, measures nine feet in diameter and weighs over 13 tons! And it was cast in April 1858.
Why are we talking about a bell? Well, she is off on a jaunt, she'll go down a tube, whoosh under the City of London to Aldgate East and will pop up near to Whitechapel Road.
And why is she going to East London? Well, you see Dear Readers, she is going on a tour of The Whitechapel Bell Foundry and now you know the connection.
For, yes, they made Big Ben and another, very famous bell.. The Liberty Bell, cast in 1752.
If you want to know more about these two bells and in great detail, here is their website. Because she is going out to dinner after the tour and will NOT be posting about this jaunt tonight!

But I am going to post about the two bread recipes I have just given you.. for Pop.. goes the toaster!
