Up here, in the northern hemisphere, Spring starts today. And do you know why those mad March hares all jump about so much? They're trying to get or keep warm poor things. For March can be a bitter month, sometimes much colder than January when she's been known to garden in just a t.shirt.
She had to wake up at some dreadful hour as the managing agents are finally sending someone to read all the meters. Having been 'crapped' on from a great height by this lot, she has decided that they can, and will, do the work for which they are paid.
As she was told that she is "not a lessee and, therefore, should not contact them", she fails to see why this is not a two way street and no longer will answer the 'sacherinely' sweet emails from the secretaries who don't want to get off their backsides and do any work and so, she no longer will clean up after the dustmen and will not read meters.
She is especially put out as since a Sky disc was put onto the roof, her tv reception is non existent, did they 'fiddle' with the aerial cable? Who knows but a letter of complaint is going off to the CHIEF managing agents Knight Frank, because she doesn't think they allow Sky discs on their houses.. this will be interesting.. watch this space.
Chilly start to the day, foggy and damp.. ugh. She is still feeling really 'grotty', but as dear Pat said yesterday "you have been poisoned every day for at least eight weeks, this will take a good length of time to be removed from your system".
So yesterday was grapes, lots of grapes, to help scrub out her insides and five hours later, they did the trick. Today and tomorrow she will eat grapes and steamed vegetables, she will lay off meat, fish and all types of dairy for a while in order to give her poor old body a chance to get rid of the poison.
I wonder what the blood tests will show up? Her GP said "for you do look dreadfully pale".
On to much more important and chirpful things.. like what's she going to grow this year? No brainer! Lots and lots of different varieties of beans! And patty-pan squash, they look like a flying saucer from a child's comic and the trick is to let them only get 'so' big.
Golden and red striped beets, courgettes, pak choi, rocket, all the different colours of chard, sorrel which is a perenial, spinach, onions. The different types of garlic that were planted in October are doing splendidly. They all took and sprouted, let's hope the thieving bastards who nicked all of the potatoes don't steal these as well.
For a gardener, there is nothing better than sitting with a mug of what-ever-takes-your-fancy planning and plotting what you're going to grow and mixing in with these plans, a few prayers for a 'decent' summer.
Now she's off to fire up that hot water maker in order to make our first cup of LapySang of Spring!
GeeGee Parrot.
March 1st, 2016.
