Ahhh.. Malaysian Dumplings with chilli and soya sauce. Now, can anyone tells us a better reason to sit with a friend on a chiller box in the open on a wet Sunday afternoon? No, I didn't think you could. Especially not if they're 'chased' by slices of excellent carrot and lemon cakes.
And in the meanwhile.. the English weather did its' worst.. hail, yes, large hail stones bounced off the tarmac and driving rain fell by the bucketful.. ah yes, it's Easter in England.. and three minutes later, the sun came out from behind a large black cloud and cheered us all up!
She parted with two pots of IshPol, Debbie had looked distinctly under-priviledged at Parson's Green last Sunday, we know how to fix that.. oh yes.. a couple of pots of IshPol and a bottle of something red and smelling sweetly of cherries is guaranteed to fix most ills.
Then she produced a box.. a box of Babka. This, to those if you who don't have Polish friends or relatives, is a tradional Polish Easter cake and they are delicious. She bought two from Bartek on Friday, one she gave to Ann and Roy and the other was the one she gave to Debbie today for her and all the others who are working with her, like ALL farmers with animals, very hard at the moment.
Why especially hard at the moment, well, it's calving / kidding and lambing time, that's why and animals don't usually have their babies between 9 to 5!
She is itch free! Oh, thank you Vitamin E..
Now, do you remember me telling you that she was deemed to be very low in iron in her last blood test? Well, she is now imbibing Tincture of Stinging Nettle. Nettles are strange things, in the early Springtime they are at their 'friendliest', for you can pick them, albeit carefully, with bare hands and you cook them like spinach and they are very nutricious and tasty.. the same cannot be said later in in the year! Also the land where they grow is extremely fertile, they're fussy folk nettles!
They're an excellent and high source of Iron and much safer and better for you than the dreaded Ferrous Sulphate which can cause all sorts of troubles.
And one way that you can tell if you or a child are deficient in iron is simple and involves nothing more than eating a raw beetroot. If the urine shows up to be beet coloured the next day, then you / the child is deficient in iron. If, however, the urine is, as it should be clear with no colour, then the iron level is ok.
Strange huh?
But the other marvellous thing that beets do, is to literally act as a broom to the digestive system, whoosh, they 'brush' everything out and now you understand the curious title of this post, for have you ever seen a constipated goose?
And on that note.. ByeBye.
GeeGee Parrot.
