Our feathers, which are glorious
Parrot be my name
My mess is done
My human come
To clean poop, bring food and scratch my nape
Give us our daily fruit & nuts
But ditch the dreary pellets
Bring us toys so we may leave your .....* in peace
And take us not to the scary vet
But deliver us from cages
For yours is the kingdom
I could chew for the next seventy years
Oh.. this does make her laugh, which is a good thing as she is still feeling really ick-dick.. aka sick.
She has no idea where she saw it, it is on her old mobile so she must have found it several years ago and had the sense to take a copy of the page.
It is raining, an extremely dismal wet day, it is times like this that you should be able to feed your crew or just yourself something tasty without going out to get food from the shops. This is the importance of keeping your dry stores up to date and putting new stuff behind the older.
Dry stores are rice, pasta, freekeh, buckwheat and should be in your cupboard along with some tinned food, plus things in your frosty larder. If you keep a supply of these dried foods, then keep them into large glass jars (with screw on lids) along with several BAY leaves.
Weevils / food moths don't crawl through plastic bags to get at your flour or whatever, they're already in / on the foods you buy but putting BAY leaves, fresh or dried, will stop them.. dead! The smell does NOT scent the food stuff.
She puts them into my glass food jars which are full of nuts, seeds and dried fruits. We now never have a problem with my YumYum going stale or creepy-crawlies since she learnt this trick.
Remember to check the levels of oils and vinegars and replenish your stocks when you are 2 inches from the bottom of the bottles and when you make a sauce, freeze the little bits left in an ice cube tray and keep them in a bag in old Frosty. This way, they will do someone a meal, on a baked potato for instance.
We are lucky she went through the market on her way to weigh-in yesterday, we've eaten the grapes but have apples, celery and three pomegranates in YumYum HQ. It's 5 degrees here in London at the moment according to the weather man, even more reason not to want to go 'out there'.
I know she went gardening last Saturday when it was the same temperature but a bright clear day at 5 degrees is very different to a wet cold day of 5 degrees, that's for sure.
She has emailed the landlord as our tv reception is beyond a joke.. let's us hope that we hear back from Wizard as well. She needs him to get onto the roof and see if the aerial connection is secure.
I don't want a repetition of last Spring when she was so ill for so long. No, I don't think we can blame last years' attack on citrus, she and another Rotarian both had an evil virus which knocked them both for six. But it is kinda fun to have her to chat to and talk with and I might even get to learn the second bit of my most favourite (only) song.. Farewell, Adieu.. you know the one, from the Sound of Music.
So here we are. I'm just carrying along like a crazy-loon, she's a tapping as fast as she can and still do it accurately. Life is ok.. we hope you all are too?
GeeGee Parrot.
