Wow! A cracker of a page turner! The lady sure can write.. this is the second book by this author she has read and it has a great twisty tale, we guarantee that!
But what is she doing indoors on a sunny day, you might well ask that question Dear Readers.. she's not only been indoors today but she's also spent most of it in or on her bed! Lazy wench, I know that's what you're thinking, she should be out there a'weeding that poor old asparagus bed.
Well, it all started yesterday.. it was a bright sunny day so she dressed accordingly and said "oh, how blissful GeeGee I don't have to wear winter boots, I can wear slip-on shoes with no socks" and with those on her feet, off she raced to weigh-in, to pick up her prescriptions and to hunt for a Fair Isle pattern to give to Pat.
It was when she was trotting fast down the North End Road that she felt her right foot go.. again. The pain shot through the outer edge of her sole and brought her to a standstill! Drat.. and then she figured it out.
She's lost a lot of fat and water off her feet, all her shoes and boots are much looser and the 'Driving' shoes which she was wearing have a very soft rubber sole and were giving no protection to her feet. The little spur that had shown up in that xray had been bashed and was giving her gyp.. big gyp.
She dot-and-carried-one up the street, did the weigh-in, about which we won't speak, then limped off back to the bus stop.. wretched shoes, they're pretty but not good for her feet. She came home, put socks on and eased her foot into her Roman loafer, which are proper shoes with good support and a leather sole.
This enabled her to at least walk to the surgery, collect her prescription, take it down to her chemist in Sloane Street and to finish her chores but when she got home and took off her sock.. oi vey.. her foot was swollen and sore.
As she has plans for the Easter week end, it seemed sensible to stay off that poor sore foot today and put ice on it.. which is how she managed to read 'KEEP YOUR FRIENDS CLOSE' by Paula Daly. No, of course we are not going to tell you the story but it is a cracking tale and you'll never see the ending coming, we recommend you go and get it from your library immediately, if not sooner, to read over the Easter holiday.
It's a scary book! But 'good' scary! Off you go and don't be too late to bed..
