Vroom vroom.. this week at Pebble Beach Golf Club, there won't be so much talk of 'Birdies, Eagles and Par' as there will be 'Fast Tales' of Bugatti's, Ferrari's and HER favourites.. Maserati's.. such beautiful lines.
The most amaaazing cars are sold here every year. And this year there is one particular Mercesdes Benz with a extraordinary story behind it, for it is one of only 20 cars that were built in 1936 of which less than a dozen survive, most were requistioned by the Nazis during WW2.
The 540K Special Roadster 'escaped' to America where the owner had fled to escape the Third Reich. This beautiful car is thought to be able to achieve a selling price of at least TEN MILLION US DOLLARS and may even break the world record for a vintage car of over SIXTEEN MILLION DOLLARS.. Hello...
SHE knows someone who is selling an old (naturally) and very rare Bugatti.. with a great history.. Heavens knows what she will fetch.. buyers from all over the world are in this glorious part of California especially for this prestigious event.. NO 'rubber' checks here!
Last years figures were startlingly high.. they expect nothing lower this year from these highly collectable and very rare automobiles!
SHE no longer drives.. hasn't done since SHE 'rolled' a car when SHE was in South Africa Christmas circa 1981.. Both SHE and poor car survived but SHE acknowledged that SHE is a speed freak.. best leave it to someone else..
I lurve to fly at HIGH speed, bit difficult here as lots of corners and doorways.. best place ever was workshop at Deptford.. over a hundred feet long and forty wide, ceiling was twenty feet at the highest point.. oh.. I got up a 'fair bit' of speed zoom-a-zoom zooming up and down.. such fun, crash landing, usually on poor ole Zaffy, was best way to stop.. those were the days.. WE both miss them.. sigh.
But life moves on and so did WE.. AND talking about moving on.. I am going to do this very swiftly.. in direction of YumYum HQ.. where I know there is a very fat, beautifully cooked, Sirloin Steak.
