THE MARVELLOUS MRS. MAISEL.. YES, REALLY MARVELLOUS. OH, HOW SHE LAUGHED!

Beg, borrow, steal.. do whatever you have to do folks but you have to get to see this television series.

It is set in New York city in 1958. The main character is Mrs. Miriam Maisel, a young married housewife.

She's married to Joel who has a day time job but who longs to be a stand-up comic but, sadly for Joel, he has not one iota of originality in his bones and his act at the Gaslight Café certainly doesn't bring the audience to its' feet with appreciation of his wit.

Then Joel drops a bombshell, packs some clothes in her suitcase and leaves her. She gets very, very drunk and, in her night clothes, makes her way to the Gaslight, where she gets up on the stage and proceeds to tell the small audience about her life.. with humour and timing!

There's also the small matter of her baring her breasts before the cops arrive to haul her off for indecency and performing without a license.

I am not going to tell you more of the plot.. suffice to say it is certainly one of the funniest things she has ever seen on either a small (tv) or a big screen (cinema).

The dialogue's fast and witty, the costumes spot on, (she's old enough to remember her mothers' clothes in the late '50s, the settings brilliant and last but certainly not least.. the casting of each one of the actors is magnificent.

She had supper with Tereza last night, then they settled down and watched 3 episodes. It's not a dvd, it is on release from Amazon.

She is not very up to speed on things like Netflix or Amazon films but she'll have to learn. This is the first series of this show, it was originally released in March of last year (2017).

It has been awarded two Golden Globe Awards, Best Television Series and Best Actress.. for Rachel Brosnahan who plays Mrs. Maisel.

And received Best Actress award for Rachel Brosnahan and Best Comedy Series at the Critics' Choice Television Awards with Alex Boorstein receiving a nomination for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series.

Alex Boorstein, as Susie, is quite, quite brilliant!

It's cold here in London today, the past few days seem like a dream with that sunshine and balmy temperatures of 11 degrees C! apparently, it isn't going to get above 5 degrees C today and it's windy, so there's no allotment'ing for her today.

She has to go to the North End Road to get two bottles of Black Seed Oil and an extension flex.

Time to go, maybe we'll be back later with news about the two new friends for me! Furry stripey friends from Bengal!

GeeGee Parrot.
