BOOMBOOOM.. BANGBANG.. WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON?

She thought, then said "It must be midnight GeeGee, that sounds like bells and fireworks, happy new year darling bird" and carried on reading her book.

Yes, we spent the last night of 2017 veryvery quietly at home, we ate what we wanted and drank a lot of our much beloved LapySang.

We spoke to a couple of friends who don't use emails or text messages and she sent a lot of text messages and emails to those that do.

We slept late and awoke to a quiet day. There is very dodgy transport today so although the day is mild she won't be going to the allotments as it would take hours to get there.

She has a 'thank you' note that she wishes to write, then she'll walk to their house and put it through their letter box, Andreea and Juliano are away in Canada until Wednesday so it will be there for them upon their return.

We, sorry, I am going on a jaunt on Wednesday, she is going to work and I'm going too! I will report back upon my findings.

What else do I have to tell you? Not so much I'm afraid, the year is too young and we are being particularly lazy with a very late start to our day.

She has changed our breakfasts, we always used to share our four eggs but I got bored with egg and started being tricky about what I was eating, so yesterday, she boiled a sliced carrot, a small turmeric root, some of the stalk of a long piece of sprouting broccoli and leaves off a white cabbage.

Then she plopped a whole, quite soft boiled egg on the top of these vegetables, served it on a plate and put it onto my cloth which she spreads on top of her bed.

It was lots of food! But the nice thing was that it was there all day and I could have a tasty snack whenever I felt 'Beakish' - Parrots don't peck.

And she ate two soft boiled eggs and a mandarin, which should never be confused with a satsuma! Satsumas are easy-peels, mandarins are not! Their skin is a darker orange and are tight to the fruit.
We love them both.

The mandarins were a gift from one of the stall holders in the North End Road on Saturday, she buys most of her fruit from him and has done for many a year.

After she had asked him for some persimmon and a large swede, he picked out 15, yes 15, mandarins and gave them to her saying "Happy new year to you lass, thank you for your business".

Wasn't that nice! So we're getting lots of vit c in these lubblyjubbly citrus and we shall be healthy to start our new year. As we hope you will be too?

Now she has to write a BIG thank you to one of our very dear Dear Readers, but that is going to be a post all by itself.

She has to write that thank you note, put on a coat and a hat and venture forth into 2018.

Be kind, be loving, be good.

GeeGee Parrot.
January 1st, 2018.
