She slept deeply last night and dreamt of being and talking with Suzan up in Hot Springs, Arkansas. They had met in London in the early 90's and became friends, her husband was Lewis and he and Bill had had a mutual 'love'.. Bridge!
They lived in Pine Bluff and she stayed with them several times when she was going to or leaving clients in the USA.
Both Suzan and Lewis were active in a huge amount of things, she was an Episcopalian, a very active member of their local church and her great love of music had involved her at board level with the Pine Bluff Symphony Orchestra
Lewis and Suzan met when they lived in New Orleans, had married in 1980 and moved to Pine Bluff - Suzan's home town - in 1992.
Their mutual love of music meant they had loved New Orleans but she had been scared of that city, scared by the huge lake and voiced her fear of it one night when Gayle and Norman Matson, Bill, Lewis, Suzan and mama were out one evening in London.
"One day a hurricane is going to push Lake Pontchartrain to flood huge tracts of that city, it'll be devastating" and, unfortunately, she was right, for in August 2005 Katrina brought the lake into the city
She had loved her time with this couple up at their lake house, the Scrabble games were ferocious and highly competitive, Lewis had three friends, one a local deputy, with whom he played bridge and the house was full of laughter, the smell of delicious food. No smart clothes had to be worn, the days revolved about food, board and card games, the water and talking.
So it was disconcerting to 'swim' up from her deep sleep this morning and realise that it had been,a dream, to remember that clever, sweet Lewis had died in 2006 and her dearest darling 'Moley' had died on October 30th, 2012 exactly nine years to the day that Bill died.
And now she has to get up and go to see Myra, something 'weird' has happened in the garden and she has to look at it.
I have a full tumtum and will doze whilst she is out, which won't be for very long, there is MUCH work to be done and only she can do it.. it being the sorting out of our sitting room.
GeeGee Parrot.
