"It's time to get up up" she said, "but mum, it's cold and wet outside, why are you going out there, stay home and snuggle in bed with me" was my response.

And for a nano-second, I thought she'd fall for it. But no, up we got. Even thoughts of slurpy eggs were not very thrilling for it's grey and boring out there, we are both deeply envious of Karen in Vail seeing blue skies every day.. sigh.

She's done a quick whizz through the papers.. the story and photos of the sealion who was caught pinching fish from a restaurant in San Diego was the happiest news, then it went down hill.. fast. The death of a man in NYC caused by the crane falling was pretty grim, to say the least. And there's been an earthquake in Taiwan with several deaths.. ugh.

But the grimmest - before you all jump up and down and froth at the mouth - APART, from the tragic news of the on-going saga in the middle east, was the follow-up to a story that we wrote about last year. An eleven year old boy shot an eight year old girl because she wouldn't let him play with her puppies, do you remember this?

He had teased and been horrid to this little girl for several months, so she sure as hell wasn't going to let this bully boy near her pets. He went off and came back with TWO guns, a 12 gauge, we call them 12 bore in the UK, and a BB gun.

She said to him, she was sitting on the ground, something to the effect of they're not real and he said they were and standing over her, he shot her, she died in her mother's arms. He has been found guilty of murder and the courts have ruled he will be 'held' until he is 19.

Ugh, with stories like these, do you not see why I want to stay safe and snuggly in bed sometimes?

She's collecting stuff from Anthony at the Farmer's Market in South Kensington.. it's held in Bute Street so she has got to go out, the pile of library books have been read and need to be changed, we need eggs and she has to do a run to Lidl as I've finished my rye and sunflower bread.

Upsy-daisy we go.. think happy thoughts.. walk on the brightest side of the street.. whistle a happy tune.. we'll get there.

GeeGee Parrot.
