FISH WAS THE DISH OF THE DAY!

You have to agree, she knows some amazing folk! Take this example, she gathered everything up and went to Streatham Hill Station by overland train. Roy picked her up in the car and took her back to the Marmalade Making HQ.

Ann has a large kitchen, she wishes our kitchen was this size but it ain't, so we make do as best we can. Anyway, it is always much more fun making marmalade with someone else as there's a lot of cutting of the skin, before you soak them, that goes into making this delicious stuff.

But it was done quickly, they were aided by Roy who had made them mugs of delicious coffee and recounted funny tales.

Then it was time for lunch.. three large pieces of wild salmon appeared on a dish together with small potatoes and brocolli shoots and fresh hollandaise sauce, she finished hers and Ann asked if either she or Roy would like the tiny tail bit? They both said that they would not. Cheese and home made panne cotta was produced.. heavenly grub.

We've told you before that Ann is a seriously good cook and this meal was up to her normal standard, very slurpy indeed. The rest of the afternoon was pleasantly spent talking about different varities of what vegetables and tomatoes that they were going to grow this year. They have a huge garden, a good sized paved area AND a greenhouse..  you can imagine how deeply envious she is of this space.

Time to go.. into the car and zoom down the hill to the bus stop and a quick trip into MFC, a shop which sells my favourite hummus. And as Ann was saying her goodbyes, she said "there's a treat in WW for GeeGe, see you on the seventh for the V&A exhibition" and off she went.

Mama caught a 137 bus home and looked into WW and sure enough, there was a little plastic bag under her bag. When she got home and had made a fuss of me, she remembered the little bag and went to get it.

"Ann has sent you a treat GeeGee, I wonder what it is.. OH NO, that is so sweet of her, lookielookie GeeGee.. she's given you the salmon tail for your supper". And there it was.. a piece of salmon for my supper, a sweet gesture.. what nice woman that Ann is for I do so love fish.

So she beetled off, found a box of cards plus a stamp and wrote our 'Thank You' letter immediately, it will catch the first post tomorrow.

Moorfields Eye Hospital tomorrow.. hey ho.. they told her that she going to be going through lots of intensive tests and to bring her glasses with her.. she's packed them into her basket and will be gone for several hours.

Thursday is another jolly day, (to make up for Moorfields). A lecture at the Old Chelsea Town Hall on Fashion, Pauline is meeting her at the venue and they'll have tea or coffee afterwards.

The weather today started off gloomy but by the time she got up to Anns' house, which is way up high above Streatham Hill, it was a beautiful late Winters' day, clear and bright, still 'nippy' but oh look.. sunshine! A rare sight, for it has been dull and dreary this winter.

And that brings us to now.. clementine time. We are having another early night as she plans to turn out the lights about nine o'clock. I'll tell you about her trip tomorrow together with the recipe for the beetroot and horseradish that she gave to Ann and Roy today.. it is HOT and STRONG.. excellent with a piece of beef. But.. first you must find your Roots, no, not your ancestors, the Horseradish!

Oh.. before we go, she's identied the tiny black and white bird she saw bouncing about in the North End Road yesterday, it was an adult Pied Wagtail, please go and have a look and see what they look like, we think you'll agree that it is 'snappy' in those smart black and white clothes.

GeeGee Parrot.
