She's tired, that'll teach her not to listen to me.. now, what's for supper? Ooh, a crispy Sea Bream a la Chinoise.

Phew.. she looks like something a cat dragged in.. hungry, limping, tired and windblown. She went out with this full list of what she had to do and I DID say "but does it all have to be done today?" and got, in return, a look that implied I am just a daft featherless person who doesn't know anything.

So.. off she went, this involved walking against an extremely strong head wind up to the recycling depot, onto Chelsea Green where she bought a small Sea Bream, then through St. Marks' to the library on the Kings' Road. Into the library to change books and select new ones.

Back out and down to the bus stop, the traffic was hideous, who are all these people that invade our town at week ends? Off at Clapham Junction, up the hill to Lidl to get my bread and washing liquid for white fabrics plus loo paper.

Down the hill to catch a bus home.. slightly quicker than the going time but not a lot. Walked home, emptied WW, having kissed me on Beaky, she left again for South Kensington.

Good heavens! WHAT was going on? For there was a hideous crowd of drunks all lurching about outside the Marquis of Zetland pub in Bute Street and an extremely large police presence who were trying to stop these idiots from falling over into the Old Brompton Road and getting run down by passing traffic.

She greeted Anthony and gave him a bag for the Goaty folk plus a one person sized chocolate salami to him, he's never had one before, and collected her bag of swag. The next door stall, The Parson's Nose, which sells hot bbq meat in rolls was doing a roaring trade, he wasn't closing down at 2.00pm, that's for sure!

She said to one slightly older, frazzled looking copper "oh great, we have to pay you guys extra to come and stop this drunken lot from getting run over and then they'll end up at some point over the week end in A&E and cost us more money".. he laughed and replied "you're spot on, are you a doctor?", she laughed and said "no, a local tax payer, stay safe" and walked home with her swag.

It's spitting cold rain, the wind is strong, the dark grey sky is full of 'mewing' sea gulls, they've flown inland as it is probably very wild out there and the river (Thames) at Battersea Bridge was high and very choppy.

She's tired but at least she has everything for the week end. Including our fish for tonight, do you eat Sea Bream? It is not an expensive fish and is delicious. This is how she is going to cook it.

Sea Bream a la Chinoise.

You wilł need:

100g of white rice OR red rice would be lovely if you have some. Cook this ahead of time.
1 tbs of sunflower oil.
Sea Bream fillets.. one each..
2 tbs of cornflour.
2 tbs of light soya sauce.
1 tsp of white wine vinegar.
1 tsp of clear honey.
1 tsp sesame seeds.
2 spring onions sliced thinly on the diagonal.
Steamed green vegetables such as mangetout.. we have pak choi.
Cold water.

How to do it:

You've already cooked your rice and it is sitting drained but somewhere warm, I trust?
Slash the skin side of the fish fillets with a sharp knife, then dust with cornflour.
Mix together soya sauce, vinegar, honey, sesame seeds and a tbs of cold water.
Heat the oil in a large non-stick frying pan.
Fry the fillets in the hot oil for 3 minutes on each side, remove and keep warm.
Pour in the liquid and cook for a minute to heat through.
Dish up your rice, place a fillet on top, pour over the hot sauce, scatter the sliced spring onions and serve with the steamed vegetables.

It is quick and easy and tastes good.. just what you want on a dismal day like today.

The ugly bruising is coming out on her leg but if anything, it is much more painful than the first day after surgery, it certainly makes her feel tired, I can see tomorrow being a quiet day at home, that's for sure. And, in fact, she's going to bed for a doze, yes, she's that tired! Poor old bat. I'm staying up on my bedroom pole, the flat is cosy, no one has to be spoken to, we have everything that we need.

'Creak, creak', do you know what that noise signifies? Why, it's the noise of our 'Drawbridge' being raised', she has no intention of speaking to any human or doing anything, apart from giving me a cuddle, for the next few hours.

Shush.. tired woman going to sleep.

GeeGee Parrot.
