A GARDEN IN OUR KITCHEN.. YES, YOU DID READ IT CORRECTLY.

What to do? "Not a lot" SHE said as SHE headed off to do some washing.. cold and wet outside. WE are having happy thoughts of three and four years ago when Spring strutted her stuff in March and WE had lots of lovely days at the allotments..

They, the weather gurus, say "it is all going to be sunshine and happy days are here again" as of Sunday.. WE are doubting Thomas'es and are muttering "fat chance" under our breath.

But WE are quietly gardening but in a rather strange place, in YumYum HQ, aka kitchen, SHE has numerous jars and lots of pots with things happily growing and sprouting away.

SHE planted LOTS of Garlic last year in October and most of them are happy, there are a few gaps which SHE will fill in with new cloves but SHE also put several cloves into jars with a little water, they all rooted and have put up multiple, skinny green shoots.. oh, yum yum, Garlic shoots are delicious!

These Garlic SHE will plant around the Fruit and Rose trees at the allotment, they help keep soil free from bugs and with a snip snip, the shoots are Scrummydumptious in salads.

What else is growing in OUR Kitchen Garden? Let ME see..

Well.. When YOU buy Winter Chicory, which is a wonderful plant, it has had a very strange life, to say the least! Not enough space to tell YOU about the strange life of Chicory.. trust ME, it's weird.

SHE loves it and bought three very fat ones from Carol two weeks ago, they all had quite a long stem, also tasty sliced into a winter salad, they went into a jar with water.. and lo and behold! They have all sprung baby shoots!

Last but not least.. Winter Spinach, again from lovely Carol, not leaf Spinach but the whole plant cut with a long stem. Popped into water to keep it fresh, roots grew.. new fresh growth growing!

Who knew YOU would have a garden in the kitchen? Did YOU?

When YOU next buy Watercress, see if YOU can find a bunch with some roots.. then YOU can grow FRESH Watercress at home in a glass jar and fresh water daily please.. it grows in running water, not ponds.

So no mud today.. later, WE will play the WHOOSH game!

Haha.. YOU will have to search for the origin of that for I am off.. flap flap.. to inspect OUR Kitchen Garden.. aka The YumYum HQ.

GeeGee Parrot.
