SHOCK.. HORROR.. POOP OLD WICKER IS IN DISGRACE & WHEN IS A SHRIMP A PRAWN?

OH.. They'll make people on the tube laugh, that is for sure! What are they?

They are seedlings who have grown very leggy, for a few days it has been impossible for her to go out to the allotments, aka garden and these silly seedlings have all taken it into their heads to grow. Grow like in reach for the sky grow! They are in a bucket and will go out to be planted today.

Yesterday was a particularly strange day weather wise, it started off bright and sunny, then mr.grey cloud appeared and the temperature dropped. By mid afternoon, it was freezing and the Beast from the East was blowing icy wind about.

Most of market stall holders were in heavy duty survival clothing, hats pulled firmly down over their ears and wearing mittens.

And Daniela of 'I Love Sicilia' was thanking her lucky stars that she had brought an extra long-sleeved t.shirt and that her gazebo had sides.

SpinyApples were what she wanted, none were even remotely ripe enough so she rethought and found.. yippee, a little round Watermelon!

Now, I know a lot of people will query the use of the word round but her opinion, the long ones do not have the same degree of sweetness.

But this little cute round one made the perfect sound as she thumped it, she paid the man, put it in to old Wicker and pottered of up the road to mr.fish for a handful of prawns.

Here is a question for you all Dear Readers.

In America they call Prawns Shrimps.. but here in England Shrimps are small, for instance, Brown Shrimp are the variety that you would use to make delicious Potted Shrimp. They are very, very small and it is a labour of love to make them. The company Young make a very fine Potted Shrimp!

Then we have the others which are traditionally called Dublin Bay Prawns, the big guys!

Ok.. back to yesterday.. Prawns into Wicker and off to get Lamb Chops. There they were, delicious double chops, "Thank you, I'll take two double ones please" she said and paid and went to leave the shop but old Wicker did not want to move.

Come along, she gave him a tug but nothing happened, she tipped him backwards and saw to her horror. Grrr. That the little but fat and heavy Watermelon had caused his bottom to fall out!

Luckily there is a liner which consists of a large waterproof bag with fabric handles. She pulled everything out, slipped the fabric handles over old Wicker's handle and put everything back in. She kicked the metal plate back and hoped it would stay in place.

Oh dear, how I am going to mend this properly, she thought as they trundled off to the bus stop?

For old Wicker is very old.. they have jaunted all over London together for many, many years, his front legs were broken and fell off a long time ago and the woven top has now started to break. He has done more than his fair share of hard work but gulp.. it may be time to put him 'out to grass'.

When she gets back later today, she will have to turn him upside down and see how, if it is at all possible, to mend him. Otherwise he will have to go to someone who does not need to carry such heavy loads. Sigh.

But, I am happy to report, it is a sunny day, she needs to plant those silly triffid seedlings and I will go to doze on door pole.. and maybe Joe, who is in Ottawa and who wrote her in an email that he owes her a recipe, will send it to her!

You never know Dear Readers.. you never know what's a'coming! Now ain't that the truth! PipPip.
