They have been dead for many a year now but it is still their birthday. Constance would be 102, Bill 90.
It still seems weird in the week leading up to this date not to be putting cards into the post and going to stay with her in Somerset.
Not to go to the perfumery in Fortnum & Mason to buy a bottle of Jean Patou's 'Moment Supreme', which was her signature perfume. Or to be sending Bill a lovely book or disc.
We're spending the day quietly at home and she's done some work on tackling that awful room but not a lot.. as Paul Daniels would have said!
But she did do something yesterday, the outcome of which has pleased her greatly!
She bought a job lot of books in a second hand store recently and tucked into one of the bigger books was a small bag of photos and an Army demob book dated 1946.
There is a name and date of birth in the book together with the man's army number, his regiment and unit.
So yesterday she sent an email to the Royal Artillery Regimental HQ at Larkhill and they've responded asking her to send the package to them!
Yippee.. we do hope that they are able to reunite his family with the photos and paperwork.
This was a lovely start to the day and tomorrow she is going to have lunch with a small bunch of people and take part in the quiz at New Horizons.
Maybe she might do another bag of paperwork as well, for yesterday she found, amongst a lot of old rubbish, two incredibly valuable pieces of paper!
What they were doing mixed in with a lot of old order forms and purchase orders circa 2007 she has no idea but now they are safely in a file and she has the proof that the watch company has her watch.
She sent them an email immediately requesting information about it but, as of yet, has had no response.
I think they are scurrying around trying to find it or lying prone on the floor having not heard from her for ages! Phew.. Thank goodness for that!
And Valerie's daughter just sent her a message giving her Valerie's personal email address. How nice is that!
