A SUNNY SPRING DAY.

When SHE eventually left the house, after faffing about doing what ever it is that humans do when they faff, I was able to go to pole over door and settle down for MY late morning doze.

I take this either on top of bedroom door or on pole and seeing as how it was such a lovely day, pole position it was.

It was bright to the eye which in itself is most cheering to the Soul. For it has been an extremely dull grey few months and now comes the month of bill paying for all the utilities that WE have used this past winter.

Ouch.. the winter before was probably as cold but not as wet and in this flat, the dampness makes it seem much colder. Last year WE did not have to have the boiler on all the time, in fact, there were days when it was not on at all.

That would not have been possible this winter, I shudder to think of how miserable it would have been without the heating on, SHE kept it on, but set at a low temperature, all day so the flat was dry and warm.

The meter readings were given on the nineteenth, add fourteen days and that is the day they 'plunder' OUR bank account for the money to pay the bills.

Sigh, the bills were a bit higher than WE thought they would be but no matter, for WE, or rather, SHE knows how to budget, there are plenty of preserves in the cupboard and the frozen white larder.. aka freezer.. is full of meat and fruit.

SHE has those lubbly-jubbly membership cards of several Museums, there is lots and lots to do at the garden, there are friends to meet and work to do.

A purchase had to be made today, SHE went into Wilkinsons at Fulham Broadway and to HER joy, walked straight into an old friend who spends most of the year in Barcelona in her new role of grandmere.

How very nice to see Chantal and to catch up on all her news, if SHE had gone earlier, they would not have met!

Grapes from Karen, a new book-keeping book from Rymans, a pop-in to see HER hairdresser to make an appointment for Monday at 11 of the morning clock and back home on the 74 bus.

A late luncheon was served, I got absolutely not even a look at the avocado, they are poisonous for birds, I was given a small cooked potato whilst SHE ate that, then WE both had smoked salmon, boiled potatoes with Johanna's sauce and a crisp and crunchy salad.

SHE did HER financial figures for February and I attempted to steal as many pens or pencils as I could get away with! For they are very crunchy.. and it drives HER nuts.. heehee..

No, I promise YOU, YOU do not want one of ME, get a dog or a cat and stay sane, trust ME, WE are a lot of work, as mad as hatters and WE never, ever grow up!

WE grow to be very old in terms of years but mentally, well, I suppose a great deal depends on the human with which WE live (I stand NO chance) but OUR natural inclination is to be fun loving, norty in a nice way, pen thieving flying dragons!

Do YOU remember the song about Puff, the Mighty Dragon? I am, indeedy, very fortunate as there is absolutely no chance of HER becoming 'sensible' or grown-up. SHE is, I hasten to add, remarkably grown-up about a lot of things but life with MY mum could never be described as sane.

And SHE has a plan for this evening which involves ME, a bowl of grapes and a jar of nuts!

Yes, Dear Readers, it is catch the grape and chase the almond time. FlapFlap, I have to go. I will be back tomorrow with 'Roman Holiday', don't go far.

GeeGee Parrot.
