HEAVY RAIN HEADING OUR WAY..

She thought the sky looked a bit glum when she put some rubbish out, a quick check of our local weather report, ooh, lots and lots of rain coming our way.

They say we are in for a battering this afternoon and over the week-end, hopefully it will clear in time for the Bank Holiday on Monday but we are talking about the British weather, it is not always predictable!

Never mind, we gardeners have to hope and trust otherwise we wouldn't even plant a bean, let alone a seed, would we?

Spitter-spatter on the pavement, here it comes, the rain is coming up from the south, apparently some parts of France have had very heavy rain for a few days and we are told to expect the same, up to an inch and a half (4cms) per hour.

But nothing like the rains in the Balkans where rain and flooding have created the most terrifying situation with the dreaded land mines, dating back to the war of the early 90's, which are now being exposed.

The flooding is the worst that this part of Eastern Europe has experienced for 120 years, those poor people, the damage has been beyond one's comprehension with dreadful mudslides.

Last year it was parts of the Czech Republic, Germany and Slovakia that were so badly affected by extreme rain fall which caused several of the larger rivers to burst their banks and cause horrendous damage and devastation.

This rather puts paid to her plan to do the raised box under Miss Victoria Plum but never fear, Dear Reader, for there is always something for you to do, is there not?

Even if it is not housework but skiving off to The British Library by way of going underground and popping up on the Ruston Road!

Me? I don't plan to go anywhere, there is a soft boiled egg that's in dire need of Beaky's attention.

GeeGee Parrot.
