WELL? Where are they? WE came on line and went to look at comments box, expecting at least half a dozen answers.. to find.. nothing! Well, YOU are not trying very hard, are YOU,
So far, Ros, first off block, with correct answer that Dixon of Dock Green used to say "Evening All", then came a posting from Mr. Yowie Cat who knew that "Book 'em Dano" was said by Garrett to Dano, Hawaii 5-0, and BiBi gave HER verbal answers yesterday, except for who said "well, he would say that, wouldn't he?".
They met at The Stick & Bowl, a small Chinese, surprise surprise, restaurant in Kensington High Street which has been there forever, well, as long as BiBi and SHE can remember and they are like elephants those two with their memories of London.
Then they went, in the rain, up through Kensington Gardens to Kensington Palace to see new exhibitions... well, what a disappointment, building is beautiful, potential is / was enormous but lack of attention to detail through entire place is disgraceful.
BiBi wrote email last night to complain and SHE is sending HERS today. One of the main rooms is empty except for a strange cabinet, which has a miniature viewing, rather like a Kalidescope in it.. most odd. There are small displays of Blue and White porcelain, mostly Dutch, on ledges but with no detailed labels.. tragic, such a waste of great space.
This Palace comes under auspices of The Royal Palaces, all SHE says is "Thank Goodness, it is another team who are in charge of other 4 Royal Palaces: Hampton Court, Kew Palace, The Banqueting Room, which is all that remains of Whitehall Palace and last but certainly NOT least.. Tower of London.
Never mind.. WE won't dwell on their silliness but will swiftly move onto happier things like walking slowly through Whole Foods.. Oooh, I wish I could go there, as it sounds jurst up MY street.. three floors of delicious stuff.
SHE came home with small bottle of Blackcurrant Pulp in Vinegar.. WE will be able to make this as WE certainly have enough Blackberry bushes and will let Charles and Milli in on act as well, they have masses of soft fruit bushes.
They tasted Dried Black Fig from Calabria, must ask Caroline about this, she and Gustavo live in Calabria, region of southern Italy, BEST tomato sauce SHE makes is Calabrian, tomatoes, garlic, oil, salt, pepper and oregano, nothing else.
NO, adding onions would mean that it comes from another region.. read a real ITALIAN cookbook and get it right. Better still, go there and eat food made by people who know how it should be cooked..
Today for breakfast, I had soft boiled egg and a beakful of bread, SHE thinks I am sick when I don't gobble it down in vast quantities but no, I am quite happy, thank you.
After a sunny start it is now dismal, grey and wet.. ugh. SHE checked seedlings outside bathroom on window ledge, someone, WE rather think it might be small Mr. Snail, has nibbled leaves off a Bean plant.. hope he has no plans to go back.. as SHE sprinkled very fine salt on top of pots and YOU know what salt does to Mr. Snail..
Everyone else looks happy, good that they experiencing cold and wet weather, then they won't be shocked when SHE plants them into big beds at garden. More vegetable seeds are germinating in seed tray on top of radiator, WE eat well in our home.
WE also have delicious 'smelly' flowers, outside front door there is Apricot Rose jurst about to bloom, what an exquisite flower and growing through Fig in barrel at top of stairs, there is Scarlet Rose, cannot remember either of their names.
When Constance died, SHE bought lots of Rose bushes and planted them ALL in memory of HER mother. Several 'Gloire de Dijon' are growing along a fence, pretty Rose with beautiful foliage, she took time to put her toes down but is now established and growing happily.
SHE has 'Constance Spry' and others that SHE remembers names of are: 'Compassion, Jude The Obscure, Savoy Hotel, Margaret Merrill, Pristine', one of HER favourites and Royal William'.. too many to remember all of them.
And, yes of course, SHE has 'Peace', 'bred' in France, story of this Rose breeder is as dramatic as Rose is beautiful... so come along Springtime, WE like having big bowls of our own Roses at home and SHE lurves to give them away.. especially big bunches of 'Compassion', what a stunner she is, with her long stems and full-in-your-nose smell, the buds are Apricot-Pink, then she opens up into her full glory.. such a clever Rose.
WE are having a very quiet day at home, SHE had a 'disappointment' yesterday and had to telephone HER doctor, this means a trip to hospital, I do wish they would find out what is wrong.
BiBi dearest and SHE spoke of problem only yesterday.. today, after hearing what happened only half an hour after they parted in Kensington High Street, BiBi dearest was kind and sympathetic to HER on telephone, to have friend show affection and concern made HER wet eyed, more-so as SHE NEVER has it from HER own family?
NO, to be fair, HER cousin Bruce shows concern but from HER brother or HER two nieces, about whom I never write, do you wonder why Dear Reader? Nada, nichego, nichts, niente, nothing, rien, zilch..
Good thing friends..
GeeGee Parrot.
