WELL.. WOW is all that I am able to say!
Dear Readers.. I was last heard of carrying on alarmingly because it was past one o'clock and there wasn't much such sign of lunch.. "dire straits" I thought, "pretty poor show and shabby behaviour to have to put up with on a gurl's birthday.. no yumyum.." sigh..
Anyway, I flapped MY way to YumYum HQ's door jurst in case in time to see HER assembling 'une batterie de cuisine' (cooking equipment for those of you who don't speak French).
Saucepan, vinegar and water with salt, tall red and yellow tin from Spice shelf, there was already covered bowl sitting on work service..
Gas lit, water mixture boiled, spice into water and suddenly.. I felt VERY ashamed and very small.. for what did Mama tip into boiling pan.. yes, those of YOU who are cooks know what is a'coming.. SHRIMP!
Tall red and yellow tin gave game away.. for most good cooks all around world recognise tin of 'OLD BAY' Seasoning.. jurst all YOU need is half a cup of white wine vinegar, half a cup of water, 1 tablespoonful of Old Bay, a teaspoonful of salt and Shrimp..
SHE combined first four ingredients, brought them to boil, added Shrimp, stirred gently, put lid of saucepan on, lowered flame and steamed them for about five minutes..
And in fridge, made last night whilst I was asleep, was bowl of Aioli.
What a birthday treat.. Mama eats soft bits, I get crunchy bits.. like Jack Sprat and his wife!
And treats continue.. for I know what is for supper but that is for a latter post.. now it is time to curl one foot up and have doze on top of sitting room door, SHE is going to watch Olympics..
WE do do other things apart from eat in this house but they are not nearly SO exciting!
GeeGee Parrot.
