Howdie folks.. here in deepest Knightbridge it is mid day yumyum time aka lunch.
And finally I got to see reasoning behind HER putting ole Crab shells and empty claws into a HUGE pot with herbs and peppercorns with water, onto stove to boil.. "how strange, we've had all meat off them, why is SHE doing this, not a great smell, who knows what goes on in 'cooking' department of HER brain sometimes, it might be something delicious, better hold ole Beaky shut as don't want to make idiot of self".. and Dear Readers.. what a very good thing I shut Beak.
For two days this hubbled-and-bubbled like some witches brew.. strange smell.. luckily SHE has strong extractor fan in YumYum HQ and fragrant candles from Angela in other rooms to burn.. more on Angela in next Sunday's Blog, be sure to read about her, one of London's most fabulous treasures!
Back to witches brew.. yesterday whilst perching on Goosie Head in HQ, I looked over at cauldron and saw that level of liquid had dropped considerably and all Crab bones and shell had disappeared from cauldron, all that was left was 'greyish' water.
This morning WE rose early and shared a soft boiled egg and toast.. I flew off to digest it on bathroom door, SHE bathed and left house.. in search of string.
Came back home saying that there was none to be had in the quantity SHE wanted but by now it was time to cook.. and guess what?
Oh, Holey Moley.. yeah, now I get what grey water is, it is Crab stock for Crab Risotto!
Such simple ingredients.. olive oil, onion, arborio rice, stock, french aka pole beans, crab meat and seasoning.. a dish made with attention and love.. a scrummydumptious meal.
Do YOU cook these delicious things, Dear Readers? Important trick is to remember to add stock slowly so it is absorbed a little at a time.. try it.. and see what I mean.
"Burp.. oh, I do beg YOUR pardon".. I gulped MY helping in record time and am now heading for a siesta.. such a good invention.. dooozing on one leg on top of sitting room door, Daffy Duck to keep ME company.. it is a good life for a small Grey Parrot.
GeeGee Parrot.
