HeeHeeHee...
Sorry Dear Reader, I am so full of self that forgot manners.... norty Parrot that I am... but I GOT MAIL and it wasn't MY Burthday. MY burthday is July 29th. Please note in YOUR diaries..
Not Gross Fib, I got a card from Granny-Jo, addressed to ME, sent by Royal Mail.. John, Posty Counter Man at the sorting office knew it was for ME because when SHE went to collect HER post from Victoria he said "and a card for your Parrot", so OUR Posty Man has been talking about ME and SHE came through front door saying "YOU'VE GOT MAIL".. jurst like in the movie!
Wasn't that kind of Granny-Jo, it was in response to HER sending Granny-Jo a Reddy... but she said in the card "that I was to stop plucking", what bit of "I only plucked once" don't YOU Readers understand? AND I have NEVER plucked a Reddy, they fall out, SHE collects them and somewhere SHE has all Dagga-Parrot's Reddies as well.
I know, I know.. I haven't written for ages, it is all HER fault. SHE has wind under HER 'Tail' and BIG gardening bug, poor ole WigglyWorms are being molested and poor ole Mister Centipede, well, he does not stand a chance as SHE has two red chested helpers. Aka Mister and Misses Robin, they stand on HER work boot as SHE digs and swoop.. there goes Mister Centipede, off to Robin's nest.
SHE has bought herself a new 2 stroke petrol grass cutter, petrol plus some oil to mix. 4 pulls of the cord and off SHE went to cut paths.. SHE does it once and two days later does it again, now SHE will cut it with Master Lawnmower.. he makes paths all smooth and tidy. But first SHE had to cut long straggly winter grass and rake it all-up.. SHE lays grass on terrace to dry, then it will go whooosh into flames in incinerator.
The blossom on fruit trees is marvellous! 'Sonesta' Plum is best, swiftly followed by Yellow Gage, Cherries are a little behind Gages and Plums except for one tree which is a Yellow Cherry.. hohoho.. SCRUMMYDUMPTIOUS!
Figs are farrrsst asleep! WE have Fig at home and he has three leaves showing.. none of the allotment figs are even awake! Autumn Raspberries are beginning to show signs of life.. not a lot but a little.
Peonies are all wide awake and raring to go, silly gurls, they LURVE cold winters with lots of snow.. daft women!
Asparagus is poking nose out.. too soon SHE told it and WE need LOTS and LOTS of rain, too dry, too early but it will be a good year for the stone fruit if it continues like this, no wind means blossoms will set properly, SHE will have lots to bottle and give away at Christmas time, SHE also makes Fruit Liquers, they are very tasty indeed, I am told by a very reliable source!
Bean beds are dug and covered, so are Pumpkin beds. WE grow Tomatoes at home like WE did last year, SHE grows Indeterminates in very deep pots and Cherries in baskets on wall.. no problem to water them a little at night and pinch them out if they are getting too leggy, SHE starts them off next week, last date that norty ole Jack Frost comes around is June 9th, so SHE has two months to grow Tomato plants before they go outside.
WE have a new Dear Reader in Exeter... Caroline, friend of HER for lonnnng time, Caroline has daughter whose 'real' name I do not know, SHE always calls her 'Long Legs'.. Caroline says she enjoys reading MY Blog, she wrote this in a card to HER.. perhaps she didn't realise that people write to ME!! And, that I LURVE getting MY own post or mail.
When is Rosamund coming back from Australia? WE need to know because WE want to hear what has or is happening with their new house which overlooks the lake, such a pretty view that she sent us, jurst too lovely for words. Also WE want to know how Lotta is getting on with her new home in Hamburg.
Did I tell YOU that SHE rejoined HER Cinema / Film Club? Last Tuesday SHE went with two neighbours to see 'Casalanca' and eat Chinese.. SHE came home laughing, always nice to hear one's beloveds laugh, SHE had forgotten how very funny the film was.. "round up the usual suspects", SHE had also forgotten that phrase came from Casablanca.
This Tuesday Diane and SHE are going to see 'Some Like it Hot', one of HER very all time favourite films.. and eat Chinese.. £4.00 for the cinema ticket and a little bit more for chilli yumyum.. what a pleasant evening!
Talk about evenings reminds ME that I need a little munch of MY favourite bread as a snacket before I go to sleep... I am pouncing around on HER head as SHE writes.. hopefully this will convey hunger rather than need to scratch HER head!!
Yes, WE are off.. so "good night" to YOU all and very many thanks to dearest Mister Bob in New York City who did HER an enormous favour!! Kind Mister Bob, SHE has not seen him or Mister Tom for FIVE lonnng years.. not working for HER American clients means no trips to America, SHE misses that part of HER life... maybe they will come here?!! That would be fun! They would see BIG change at allotment, as they saw it in 2003!!
So sleep well or have a happy day.. it all depends where YOU are in the world Dear Reader, WE also have Dear Reader Mister Sam in New York City, he wrote to HER today hoping that "all is well", SHE has not seen Mister Sam either for five or six years, again, too lonnng.
GeeGee Parrot.
March 30th, 2010.
