All was well in our little world. We had eaten, written a post on my blog, we had had a cuddle, she had left a message on Darling Beril's ansa-phone and then realised her mobile was still asleep. Yes, she switches everything off at night. She switched it on and found there was a text message from Tom in New York.
Upon reading it, our world became a greyer and duller place. For the message said "Hi ... our Bob has gone".
When you're a small unit like ours, with little to no family to speak of and only a few veryvery dear friends, the loss of one of them, whom she has known and loved for over thirty years, makes us feel as if there is a hole in our life.
God only knows how his sister and Tom must feel, for 'Dearest Bob' was such a kind man, besides being super bright, with a wicked sense of dry humour, he was a 'nice' man in the true old fashioned meaning of the word.
She doesn't have 'friends' for the sake of it, neither does she consider having 756 'Friends' on FaceBook - some people do - necessary, yes, she used to be social, gadded about and was more gregarious but has she ever met anyone of the calibre to take the place of people she lost? No.
He hadn't been feeling very well and hadn't taken care of himself, became sick and had to be admitted into ICU in a NYC hospital, then he went onto a normal ward and was, after a while, sent to rehab but his breathing worsened couple of days ago and he was re-admitted back into ICU.
He died very early this morning and we are glad he is free from pain and at peace but we are sad, for his sister, for Tom and we will miss him.
GeeGee Parrot.

PostScript: The 'little' family we have is our BUB, there are other members but we haven't seen since Constance's funeral or spoken with them for over six years. We don't call them 'family' relations yes, but 'family', no.
