'GRAY MOUNTAIN' by JOHN GRISHAM. READ IT & WEEP FOR THE RAPED COAL PRODUCING STATES OF THE USA.

The first time she ever heard the words 'mountaintop removal'.. aka strip mining.. she was with Bill and a couple of his friends. They were lawyers and the talk was of a huge case being brought by them on behalf of several miners who had lung disease against a mining corporation.

The process of the before mentioned mountaintop removal was explained to her in great detail by one of the guys and he also talked to her about the mining companies whose practises were 'extremely suspect', to say the least, it was not happy talk.

Yesterday, en route to the gym.. yes, I'm now officially a gym orphan for about ninety minutes a day.. she picked up a Grisham book, read the jacket cover and here was another mention of this mining practise. His books are detailed and absorbing.

But if you are new to this term and are wondering why the people of the coal producing areas voted again Hilary Clinton and the Democrats and have zero time for Obama due to his signing with 'Big Coal', then I suggest you read an article that was sent to her many many years ago by one of Bill's lawyer friends.

It is an article written for GRIST by Jeff Biggers on April 1, 2010. Titled 'Obama ends 150 year war of strip mining'. Mr. Biggers goes on to say that would be his dream. But alas and alack, Obama did nothing against this method of mining by these mining companies and the article will take your breath away at the full scale of the horror that this mining method has done to America.

Illinois, Indiana, West Virginia, Virginia, Kentucky, North Carolina and Tennessee are just a few of the American States that have been raped by mountaintop removal and the outcome is beyond belief but believe me, it did happened and it is still happening.

Why was Bill meeting with the two 'Anti-Coal' lawyers? That easy for her to remember why, it was because he was born and bred in Pennsylvania and hated with a passion what this method of mining had done to his and other neighbouring States.

She's off out, dressed in multiple layers and as we've just had a very pleasant snacket, I'm heading for a cosy perch, she'll return with new books and fewer calories! Chirp.

GeeGee Parrot.
