DO YOU WANT THE BAD NEWS OR THE GOOD NEWS FIRST?

Let's have the good news first..

I'm freeeeeee.. yes, my mum came to the aviary on Saturday, paid a small king's ransom and I was released from jail. Oh, hallelujah! And from that piece of news you can surmise that the builders have finished.. that's a joke, if ever there was one!

Would you, Dear Reader, work with painted woodwork, finished in high gloss white paint, with dirty hands? I don't think so, but numpty did and so the replaced ceiling is covered with grimy black sticky marks.

He hasn't painted, or even undercoated the newly installed tanking, it is there in all its' glory of raw unfinished mdf! And the down piping, which she knows he charged the freeholder extra money to be tanked, is just there in all its' bare copper glory.. haha, but a camera doesn't lie and she's taken some crackers of photos showing his shoddy work to be kept for the right moment to display in all their gruesome glory.

But, let's not look upon this in a negative way, because if she is painting it, she can do it in the colour she wants and it won't be done in some gruesome tone that they would undoubtedly choose and the flat IS snug and warm. In fact, we are so unused to having a warm bedroom, she's had to turn that radiator right down to its' lowest mark.

And what day is it today? Why, it's Monday, the day she goes to get weighed and.. drum roll please.. she lost another 3 lbs last week! How she lost anything when yesterday she and Debbie Goat ate three slices of Chocolate Salami and a Pince Mie.. work it out.. AND she slurped any morsel of cheese that was passed or given to her.

That makes a total of 25 lbs that she has lost, so she's a'getting there. But the thing she is reallyreally pleased, nay thrilled, about is that she's lost 7.5" off her waist! This afternoon she went to the market and got: apples, pomegranates, persimmons, lemons, Agen prunes (yum), spring greens, yellow and red very small beets and a big radicchio (lovely raw or very lightly steamed) and a big pot of fresh hummus for me.

She has the paint and brushes etc with which to do the white wash on the boiler room walls and will start on it tomorrow morning, she has to be at home for there is a surveyor coming tomorrow at 2pm to investigate the damp. She'll also point out other things that he should, or has to, be aware of.

The bad news? Well, you'd have to be on a deserted island with no communication to have missed what happened last Friday in Paris. She's checked her family and friends that are there, they're safe. It brought back to memories of her birthday on July 7th, 2005 when London was attacked.

We pray for those extremely seriously injured people in the hospitals and for the souls of those who were slaughtered. And, of course, for the people and families who have lost their friends and relatives.

Vayo con Dios, Dear Readers, it means 'Go with God'.

GeeGee Parrot.
