JOHANNAS' POTATO SAUCE RECIPE & OTHER DELIGHTS..

It has been a funny day.. peculiar not haha.. the weather has been very iffy.. and HER hand has not yet healed so gardening was not on the menu despite how loudly the much the grass, weeds, figs and blackberries are calling "come here, come here" to HER..

For lunch today, with some very delicious cold beef, WE had the rest of the dish of potatoes with the sauce that SHE learnt from Johanna.

Ooh, this dates this dish for SHE learnt it when they were together in Harrods.. in 1976!

So here is the recipe.

Whilst your baby unskinned potatoes are boiling.

Put 2 eggs yolks in a bowl in which YOU will serve the potatoes.
Add freshly ground black pepper.
A small amount of salt.
(A few Chilli flakes optional).
A small amount of dry mustard.
Mix these ingreds all together.
Slowly add olive oil and mix well.
Continue to add oil and stir.
You should have a thick oily mass, the thicker the better!
Crush and chop 1 large clove of garlic.
Slice and chop 2 scallions / spring onions.
Add these to the egg mix and stir well.
When the potatoes are ready, drain and chop them into quarters. Then add them IMMEDIATELY to the egg mix and stir well.
The heat from the potatoes 'cooks' the sauce,
which is, in fact, proper Mayonnaise.

It is HER favourite way of eating baby tatties.. dearest Johanna, SHE thinks of this lovely kind
woman every time that SHE makes this dish.

Now the other nice thing that I have to give YOU
today is the name and address of the most wonderful food company, WE know them from the Parsons Green Farmers Market.

Seasonal Suffolk. Produce very delicious food.

Go and find them on the web at :
www.seasonalsuffolk.co.uk. They are based in
Colchester. Tel: 01206 617042.

Do YOU grow anything edibubble at home? WE do.. An average of twenty five a day.. that is how generous OUR four little Cherry Tomato plants are to US.

They are hanging on OUR wall in very small cone shaped baskets.. but because they are at home, they receive a huge amount of care every day from HER, water, food and love.. for SHE does truly love those Cherry Tommies!

I do too.. slurp, WE ate yellow ones today.

  1. I'm going to try your potato salad for Labor Day lunch! As for the yellow tomatoes. Ol' JJ found an interesting recipe for "French" gapacho. It called for yellow tomatoes because they are not supposed to be as acidic as the regular reddish ones...any of them. So, we went on a search to find them. Found them at the Mexican supermarket for $3.00 a pound. I liked the soup, but I'll use good ol' Romas next time.
