JOHANNAS' POTATO SAUCE RECIPE & OTHER DELIGHTS..

It has been a funny day.. peculiar not haha.. the weather has been very iffy.. and HER hand has not yet healed so gardening was not on the menu despite how loudly the much the grass, weeds, figs and blackberries are calling "come here, come here" to HER..

For lunch today, with some very delicious cold beef, WE had the rest of the dish of potatoes with the sauce that SHE learnt from Johanna.

Ooh, this dates this dish for SHE learnt it when they were together in Harrods.. in 1976!

So here is the recipe.

Whilst your baby unskinned potatoes are boiling.

Put 2 eggs yolks in a bowl in which YOU will serve the potatoes.
Add freshly ground black pepper.
A small amount of salt.
(A few Chilli flakes optional).
A small amount of dry mustard.
Mix these ingreds all together.
Slowly add olive oil and mix well.
Continue to add oil and stir.
You should have a thick oily mass, the thicker the better!
Crush and chop 1 large clove of garlic.
Slice and chop 2 scallions / spring onions.
Add these to the egg mix and stir well.
When the potatoes are ready, drain and chop them into quarters. Then add them IMMEDIATELY to the egg mix and stir well.
The heat from the potatoes 'cooks' the sauce,
which is, in fact, proper Mayonnaise.

It is HER favourite way of eating baby tatties.. dearest Johanna, SHE thinks of this lovely kind
woman every time that SHE makes this dish.

Now the other nice thing that I have to give YOU
today is the name and address of the most wonderful food company, WE know them from the Parsons Green Farmers Market.

Seasonal Suffolk. Produce very delicious food.

Go and find them on the web at :
www.seasonalsuffolk.co.uk. They are based in
Colchester. Tel: 01206 617042.

Do YOU grow anything edibubble at home? WE do.. An average of twenty five a day.. that is how generous OUR four little Cherry Tomato plants are to US.

They are hanging on OUR wall in very small cone shaped baskets.. but because they are at home, they receive a huge amount of care every day from HER, water, food and love.. for SHE does truly love those Cherry Tommies!

I do too.. slurp, WE ate yellow ones today.

HOW VERY NICE.. TO BE ON THE RECEIVING END OF IMPECCABLE MANNERS..

"WOW".. is all SHE could say when SHE woke old iPad up this morning..

Yesterday, whilst the rain was thundering down, SHE read that the wife of a couple of writers that SHE met in Spain (circa 1974) had died, she actually had died many years ago but it had escaped HER notice.

So SHE sent the husband a short email saying that SHE was sorry to have read of her death and that his wife had been extremely kind to HER, a much younger woman, by giving HER a very wise piece of advice.

SHE did not act on this advice immediately but when a couple of 'strange' things happened, SHE did and was extremely glad that SHE DID.

Now back to "WOW".. YOU see the couple were Jane and Burt Boyar, they co-wrote several excellent books, the first being 'YES I CAN' which they wrote with Sammy Davies, Jr which was published in 1965.

And waiting for HER this morning was an email
from Burt Boyar. In which he expressed his thanks for "your very kind and welcome comments about Jane", the rest of the email was about his very much beloved wife and it made HER smile, for they were, without doubt, some of the most touching words SHE has ever read.

And for this charming man to have had the courtesy to respond with appreciation to a strangers' email reassured US that kindness and manners are still being practised..

MY Dear Dear Readers.. they will swim up & out..

As YOU all know, WE are very partial to those norty Tommies and as they are growing, literally, all over the front of OUR house, it is just a short step to do Tommy picking.. so out SHE went into the faint drizzle, the hard rain having stopped.

Twenty one little Cherry people popped into HER pocket, then SHE went to collect the post from upstairs.

Oh.. there was a large and fat envelope from The Little Ribbon Company, a couple of things that 'one' can always do without.. but what was THAT!

Good thing that neither of US are scaredy cats! For 'that' was the most humungous BANG as the skies opened and torrential rain fell to the earth.

Did SHE grimace or cuss.. Noooo, not HER, for SHE immediately thought of those norty Tatties at the garden. The last time SHE went to dig some up, SHE nearly broke the fork, let alone HER foot.

For despite any rain that the garden has had this month, which is quite a lot, they are locked in rock hard earth, refusing to come out!

But last nights and todays' rain will have changed that.. at this rate, they will swim to the surface and pop out into HER basket!

YumYum.. I am very partial to the odd new potato, for that is what a Tatty is.. a potato..

And I know that WE have some, they grew in a bucket at home.. they are such dear little people.. WE will have them with Johannas' Sauce. The recipe for that SHE will give YOU another day.

So off WE go to YumYum HQ, WE eat lunch at this strange hour as it saves thinking about food later when there are books to read and games to play with HER before I have to go to b-e-d at nine of the clock.

PALE GREY CHIFFON.. FALLING FROM THE SKY!

SHE woke up early this morning for the room was suspiciously cool and padding in bare feet to the front door, SHE opened it to see the most astonishing sight!

For there was a layer of pale grey chiffon falling.. it was almost invisible as it fell gently onto the leaves of the plants and trees, it fell straight for there was not a breath of wind to alter its' path. It was the finest rain SHE has ever seen.. a beautiful sight but one that totally altered all of OUR plans for the day.

They.. aka the Weather Forecasters.. had told of a gloriously hot Bank Holiday Weekend.. well, it might be somewhere else but here, in deepest Knightsbridge, old Man Sun is not shining his torch, in fact, I doubt very much if he even has it switched on.

That was at six of the clock.. it is well past twelve of the clock, the gentle chiffon-like mist has gone.. replaced by heavy rain and so that-is-that for all OUR plans to go and work at the garden.

Perhaps it is a good thing, as SHE has cut two fingers very badly and yes, of course, they are on HER right hand.. aka gardening hand.

Now last weekend.. what a difference! Sunny hot!

I went on a jaunt to meet Debbie of Ellies' Dairy fame.. SHE asked ME if I wanted to go, SHE does this by showing ME the travel cage, if I feel like a jaunt I step in. if I don't.. I zoom off! SHE gets the message.. I stepped in, cage slid into MY blue Ikea travel bag and off WE went by the 22 bus to Parsons Green Farmers Market.

As Debbie had no idea I was coming to see the
source of that Goaty Curd WE love so much.. I think it gave her a chuckle to meet ME..

But what was this? Not a Goaty folk in sight!

Bit of a shame, how is a Parrot supposed to learn to speak Goat if I never meet one? SHE goes bleat at ME.. but I know HER.. SHE is deaf as an old post and maybe saying it wrong.

Sadly no Goaty folk because they have to have a Livestock Permit to Travel, or something that sounds like that. Victoria would be very shocked, for SHE went everywhere with Constance in her
little van.

Lunch time.. time to go.. flap flap Dear Readers.
I will be back soon.

JUNGLE JUICE.. MONKEY GLANDS?

Please Dear Readers.. don't blame ME for the lack of new posts on MY Blog.. it is all HER fault.. and both MY Blog and that poor garden are feeling mighty neglected!

But there is no point in ME getting MY feathers bent out of shape.. so I will tell YOU a funny thing that happened to HER this last week.

For a couple of weeks it was too hot to cook proper meals, SHE was feeling lazy so despite going to the market for fresh fruit and vegetables SHE had not been into Dickinsons, OUR very lubbly-jubbly butcher, on the North End Road.

A by-product of this very hot and sunny weather is that SHE got a tan, HER skin tans easily and it suits HER.. SHE brews HER own special witches potions and oils which keep HER skin in good condition but when SHE walked into the butcher.. there was a collective gasp from three of the staff!

It was Linda, whom SHE has known for many years, who said "good heavens lass, what are you taking, monkey glands or jungle juice, you look amazing!"

And SHE told them the secret, the secret which all
of YOU know, that is if YOU are up to speed on MY Blog, of Black Seed Oil.

The seed is Black Cumin. SHE originally used it for sore joints, one day SHE rubbed the residue from a hand massage onto HER face.. the rest is history!

And for this SHE thanks Gabi Flixeder, HER very lovely Austrian Kinesiologist who introduced HER to the oil.

Linda was last seen hot-footing it across the street to the shop UR Supermarket who sell a bottle.

And SHE left the butchers with a large piece of delicious and very tender Bavette Steak.. I lurve this, it is such a scrummydumptious cut of beef.. slurp.

But that was then and this is now.. WE are just about to break that norty fast.. with an omelette FULL of Goaty Curd.. oh, happy days are here again.. oh dum-de-dum, yes, Curd is back in that chilly white cupboard (fridge) to YOU.

And in MY next Post.. I have news to tell YOU Dear Readers about SILVER AWARDS and other other nice things about several companies that YOU may not be aware of who sell fabulous things.
